In the late 1970's, the South Carolina General Assembly passed H2626, a Bill that outlawed the foothold trap. It was this action that caused the SCTA to be formed. We can trap in South Carolina today because of the hard work of a handful of people that cared enough to start this Association and fight for our rights. The SCTA continues to fight for all trappers in unfair trapping regulations and the development of better traps.

Some states have lost their privilege to trap, and without a strong association we could be next. With a strong Association we can have a voice in the future of trapping in South Carolina. |
